Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream
Recently, my family jumped on the Ninja Creami Deluxe bandwagon. My kids, who since school has let out have been spending more time on Tik Tok then usual (the heat wave is brutal, and if they’re not at practice, a tournament, or camp, they are inside) have seen their FYP dominated by influencers sharing Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream recipes. Well, consider us influenced. My youngest son begged for one for his birthday in June, and we gave in, and I gotta tell you – the Ninja Creami lives up to the hype.
The Ninja Creami is an awesome kitchen gadget if you love making frozen treats at home. It can turn pretty much any mix of ingredients into smooth and creamy desserts like ice cream, gelato, sorbet, or even smoothie bowls. Whether you’re into rich, decadent flavors or lighter, healthier options, the Ninja Creami has got you covered. It’s super easy to use, so you don’t need to be a pro to whip up something delicious. Plus, its compact size means it won’t take up much room on your counter, making it a handy addition to any kitchen.
As a family, we have been trying out various Tik Tok recipes as well as coming up with our own simple Ninja Creami Protein Ice Cream recipes. We’ve made sorbets using fresh or canned fruit, ice cream, slushies, and frozen yogurt. The Creami has been amazing during the recent heat wave. My older son has been following his trainer’s nutritional guidelines for over a year now, and getting enough protein daily has been difficult during the heatwave when it sometimes feels like it’s too hot outside to eat. Because of the Creami, his morning protein shake has now become ‘Breakfast Ice Cream.’ Never did I think I would be encouraging my son to eat ice cream for breakfast, but the Creami has made it possible to get his nutritional needs met when it’s too hot outside to eat.
The recipe we created is inspired by various fitness influencers we’ve seen on Tik Tok. Many recipes call for the addition of a few tablespoons of instant pudding, but we’ve decided that whole milk yogurt is a better ingredient to add for improved texture. This recipe makes 2 servings (or one if you have a growing teenage boy who is trying to get 180 grams of protein in a day) and has 40 grams of protein per serving.
If you have leftovers, just flatten down the remaining mix and re-freeze. Then when you’re ready to spin, you can add 4-6 oz of milk or another liquid, run it on the milkshake setting, and you have a frozen protein shake that tastes almost like a Wendy’s Frosty!
The only downside to the Ninja Creami is the need to have recipes made at least 24 hours in advance of when you want to consume them. As Ninja recommends freezing your recipes for 24 hours, we have started ‘meal prepping’ several pint cups at a time, and have also purchased additional Pint Cups off Amazon so that we always have a supply of ready to go prepared cups in the freezer.
